Recommendations are cool!
November 7, 2008
Wakoopa was invited to speak at Amazon’s excellent start-up tour where customers share their success (or failure) with Amazon’s webservices. Our story is luckily one of success and during the 10-minute talk I gave a short introduction about the Recommendation Engine that we run on EC2.
We think the field of Recommender Systems is very interesting and we hope to share our experience with implementing such a system more often. If you have any burning questions now, leave a comment or shoot me an e-mail.
However if you are interested in learning more from three other excellent speakers, be sure to check out the event we’re planning about Recommender Systems: Recked We’ll announce the speakers, location and date for this event soon so stay tuned.
For now, check out the slides:
Lightning talk at RubyEnRails 2008
June 10, 2008
Today Wakoopa attended the excellent RubyEnRails conference in Amsterdam. During the lightning talks I did a short talk about the lessons we’ve learned while building Wakoopa. It was a short talked so there wasn’t much time to get really deep into some of the issues we’ve faced.
For now the slides are up here for you to see. We’ll try to update this blog regularly with more in-depth articles about the development of Wakoopa.
Hello world!
April 1, 2008
Welcome to Inside Wakoopa, the development blog of social software network Wakoopa. This is where we’ll share some of our stories about the technological challenges we’ve faced or tell something about the way we create our product.
So what’s to expect? Well I (Robert) will mostly going into the front-end part of things. I’m talking Javascript, Prototype, CSS and also interface architecture. Wouter will be sharing some of his thoughts on C++ and Objective C development. Menno is thinking of sharing some of our Ruby code on this blog too. Who knows what will happen next. Let’s wait and see shall we?
